MNIG established as a medium to bring together nano industry players – MOSTI

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 9 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Nanotechnology Industrial Group (MNIG) was officially established today as a medium to bring together local nano industry players to represent the nanotechnology industry in Malaysia.

The Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Ministry said MNIG will act as a medium to establish close cooperation between nanotechnology companies, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and other stakeholders, as well as facilitate coordination between companies in the supply chain of nanotechnology products.

“MNIG is also responsible for offering administrative, advisory or financial control, information support and secretarial services to its members.

“It also provides industry representation, regulatory advice, business advocacy, validation and security certification and co-effective advisory assistance in the field of industrial policy,” MOSTI said in a statement today.

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, in the same statement, said MNIG will be able to help the nanotechnology industry at the regional level by taking advantage of developments in the Asia Pacific nanotechnology market which is projected to reach over USD2.6 trillion in 2025.

He said the annual sales value of local nano products that have obtained NanoVerify certification is projected to be approximately RM490.1 million this year.
