Mobile PKD Centres Transforming Rural Community Development

Kuala Perlis: The Mobile Rural Community Centre (PKD Mobile) programme, launched by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) in 2023, is adopting a transformative approach to empower rural populations by delivering essential services.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang highlighted that the programme has expanded from the existing 191 centres across the nation, focusing on hard-to-reach areas. These centres offer entrepreneurial opportunities, skills training, technology exposure, and social security access.

Rubiah described PKD Mobile as a comprehensive hub where government and private entities collaborate to provide training, services, and local product exhibitions, benefiting the community. The programme includes online marketing training for women entrepreneurs using platforms like TikTok, affordable social security systems, and entrepreneurial initiatives such as chicken breeding, rubber smallholdings, and padi planting through agencies like FELCRA and RISDA.

She emphasized that the programme would facilitate human capital development, specifically targeting youth through TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) centres such as GiatMARA, skill colleges, and U-Camp RISDA. This initiative is aimed at helping young individuals develop skills and overcome challenges.

The KKDW's PKD Mobile programme is part of efforts to improve living standards in rural areas. With the current 191 centres unable to reach all rural communities, the ministry is committed to extending the programme to ensure comprehensive coverage of government services in remote locations.
