Moderate 5.4-Magnitude Quake Hits Sulawesi Sea

Kuala lumpur: A moderate 5.4-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Sulawesi Sea at 10.23 am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the earthquake's epicentre was located at 4.5 degrees North and 124.9 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometres. The epicentre was approximately 199km west of Pulau Talaud, Indonesia.

MetMalaysia stated that an initial assessment indicates there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
