Banda Sea: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the Banda Sea, Indonesia, at 6.45 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) stated that the quake occurred at a depth of 171 kilometres, approximately 413 kilometres south of Ambon, Indonesia.

MetMalaysia confirmed that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia following the earthquake.
