MoF Clarifies 2026 Funding Strategy for Health and Education Ministries

Kuala lumpur: The government is not implementing across-the-board restrictions on the allocations for the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) for 2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) emphasized its commitment to maintaining essential services and facilities. For the MoH, the focus remains on the delivery of public health services, the maintenance of health facilities, the procurement of medicines and medical equipment, and the enhancement of the national health system's capacity.

In a written reply on the parliament website to a query from Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (Warisan-Semporna) about the current year's allocations, the MoF stated that any expenditure adjustments would not compromise core services to the public.

Concerning the MoE, the MoF highlighted that the government continues to prioritize the operations of schools, the welfare of students and teachers, the upkeep of educational institutions, and the implementation of impactful educational programs. The measures to optimize spending focus on achieving savings without affecting the quality of and access to education.
