Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Health (MOH) will continue enhancing health screenings for prospective haj pilgrims through comprehensive examinations and tests conducted before their departure to the Holy Land. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the annual screenings include checks for chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly emphasized the importance of strengthening these health screenings as part of early preventive care. He outlined that the screenings involve several important tests and examinations, ensuring that the current level of screening remains good. The minister highlighted that Malaysia is among the countries with comprehensive health care measures for prospective haj pilgrims.
The Health Minister shared these insights during the 2025 National Healthy Malaysia Agenda (ANMS) programme, which was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. When asked about the MOH's measures to ensure the fitness and health of prospective haj pilgrims, Dr Dzulkefly mentioned that no specific programs have been proposed yet, but the ongoing efforts are aimed at maintaining high standards compared to other countries.
On October 21, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar reiterated Malaysia's commitment to complying with the new health requirements for the 1447H/2026M haj season, as outlined by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Haj and Umrah. He noted that the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and the MOH are bolstering the mandatory health screening system to ensure that only genuinely fit pilgrims are allowed to travel for the pilgrimage.
