MOH Plans 81 Wellness Hubs to Enhance Malaysia’s Healthcare Ecosystem

Kuala langat: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced an ambitious plan to establish 81 Wellness Hubs across Malaysia, aimed at fortifying the national healthcare infrastructure, as revealed by Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly stated that 33 Wellness Hubs have already been set up in both urban and rural areas, with the remaining 48 expected to be completed by 2033. He emphasized the significant role these hubs play in complementing hospitals and clinics, particularly in urban and rural settings, by providing critical support for people's health.

Since their inception in 2020, Wellness Hubs throughout the country have positively impacted over 1.48 million Malaysians. The success rates are notable, with 75 percent of participants achieving weight loss, 74 percent enhancing their physical fitness, and 54 percent quitting smoking. Dr Dzulkefly underscored the impact of these hubs, stating they are more than just service centers; they are catalysts for positive lifestyle changes within the community.

Currently, Selangor hosts three operational Wellness Hubs in Hulu Langat, Sabak Bernam, and Kuala Langat. Dr Dzulkefly also announced plans for a new facility to be launched in Kuala Selangor later this year. These hubs, formerly known as Community Health Promotion Centres, have been revamped into community centers offering health and wellness services, with a focus on behavior change and promoting sustainable healthy lifestyles.

The event also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between MOH and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), which outlines collaborative health and wellness initiatives, including activities at the Fire and Rescue Academy and fire stations across the nation.
