MOH Targets Over 500,000 People To Benefit From Wellness Hub Services This Year

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Health (MOH) aims for more than 500,000 citizens to benefit from services at 38 Wellness Hubs nationwide this year to strengthen disease prevention efforts and promote healthy lifestyle practices.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the target aligns with the ministry's commitment to make disease prevention a strategic investment in the nation's health through health promotion interventions and risk factor prevention. The ministry highlighted that their approach, which is based on Behavioural Insights (BI) and the empowerment of health literacy, has enabled people to adopt healthier lifestyles through targeted interventions.

"The effectiveness of this service is proven through data from 2020 to 2025, recording a total of 1,660,488 clients who have benefitted from various service packages provided at the Wellness Hub. Out of 15,027 clients who participated in the six-month weight management intervention, 11,282 people or 75 per cent successfully lost weight, while 11,455 people or 76 per cent successfully improved their fitness levels," the MOH stated in a statement issued today.

The MOH reported that from January to May this year, a total of 335,930 clients visited the Wellness Hub nationwide. The ministry is also considering implementing more flexible operating hours for the Wellness Hub, including after office hours and on weekends, to better meet public demand.

Additionally, the MOH launched the MyLLSNet Application for the '1000 Days of Life: Longitudinal Study in Langkawi (LLS)', which was officiated by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. LLS is a high-impact birth cohort study conducted by the Institute of Public Health, in collaboration with the Langkawi district health office and Sultanah Maliha Hospital. This strategic study aims to identify the critical factors that influence children's growth during the first 1,000 days of life, starting from the early stages of pregnancy until they reach the age of two.
