Bangkok: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has arrived in Bangkok for a two-day official visit beginning today, aimed at strengthening border cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamed Khaled announced in a post on his official Facebook page that he is scheduled to have a meeting with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing the collaborative efforts between the two nations, particularly in managing their shared border.
Mohamed Khaled will also co-chair the 56th Malaysia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting. This meeting serves as the primary platform for addressing and managing border cooperation issues between Malaysia and Thailand. The GBC has been instrumental in facilitating dialogue and coordinating joint efforts in maintaining border security and fostering bilateral relations.
The visit underscores the importance both nations place on maintaining a secure and cooperative border, which is vital for the economic and social well-being of the regions involved.
