Melaka: Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam expressed pride in the achievements of female media personnel in the country. He conveyed the matter to the Malaysian Women Journalists Association (PERTAMA) president Sariha Mohd Ali during the association's courtesy visit to Istana Melaka today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, "Tun Mohd Ali is proud of the achievements of female journalists, and PERTAMA itself wants to introduce this association to him and establish cooperation through organising events or programmes involving the people," said Sariha Mohd Ali. Also present during the visit were PERTAMA advisor Datuk Jamelah A Bakar, deputy president Nasriah Darus, who is also Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) deputy editor-in-chief (News Services), association secretary Nor Hasliza Abdullah, who is also Bernama English chief sub editor, and PERTAMA treasurer M. Saraswathi, who is also Bernama executive editor (Economic News Service), along with other association committee members.

Sariha, who is also a news editor at Berita Harian, mentioned that Mohd Ali shared several developments in Melaka, including the construction of a women's and children's hospital. She urged female media personnel to remain sensitive to people's issues and continue producing quality reports as a contribution to the country's development.

"For a long time, women have been in the field of journalism, and we cannot deny the many contributions made by this group towards the development of the country," she stated. Sariha emphasized Tun Mohd Ali's concern for Melaka and its people and assured that the media is ready to help disseminate information and produce the best reports for mutual benefit.
