Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) are joining forces to enhance the continuity and quality of national education, as stated by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, during a courtesy call led by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and the MOE delegation, Zambry highlighted the commitment of both ministries to comprehensively align the country's education policies from preschool through higher education. A key focus of their discussion was the Form Six on Campus programme, set to be implemented at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
This programme aims to offer sixth form students a pre-university learning experience within a university environment, fostering an academic foundation pertinent to future demands. Zambry announced on Facebook that the programme's implementation marks a crucial step towards enriching the pre-university experience, with student registration expected to commence on June 10.
The meeting also explored the proposal to create a National Education Council, as suggested by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This council would serve as a unified platform to integrate the educational directions and policies of the MOE and MOHE.
Another focal point of the collaboration is the 'Telaah Programme' initiative, which seeks to promote a culture of reading and deepen knowledge through discussions on significant works and national issues. The programme is anticipated to gain extensive support from MOE and the Ministry of Communications, aiming to extend its influence to schools and the general public.
Zambry emphasized the necessity of viewing education as an integrated entity, aligning values, knowledge, and skills to cultivate a competitive Malaysian generation. He expressed confidence that the established spirit of openness and cooperation would strengthen the national education ecosystem from the grassroots to higher levels.
