MOHE Delegates Investigation of UM Student’s Fatal Fall to Police

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) is entrusting the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) with the investigation into the death of a Universiti Malaya (UM) student who recently fell from a residential college building. This was confirmed by Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, the Higher Education Minister.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the minister highlighted that the case is currently under police jurisdiction. Datuk Seri Dr Zambry stated, "We will leave it to the police to carry out the investigation," while addressing reporters after inaugurating the Persidangan Antarabangsa Karya Agung Melayu (PAKAM) 2025.

The incident involved a 22-year-old UM student who tragically fell from a residential college building at approximately 3.15 pm on October 17. The student succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM), as stated in an earlier statement by UM.

UM further mentioned that the cause of the incident is still being investigated by the authorities. The university assured that it is providing full cooperation to assist in the ongoing probe.
