Johor bahru: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) will take proactive steps, including bringing home Malaysian students, if riots in several regions of Indonesia escalate, said its minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir. He emphasized the ministry's commitment to ensuring the safety of Malaysian students currently studying in Indonesia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry, through the Education Malaysia (EM) office in Indonesia, is actively collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to closely monitor the situation. Currently, 1,200 Malaysian students are pursuing their studies in Indonesia, and their safety remains a top priority for the ministry.

Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir stated, "Of course, if the situation escalates, it is our duty to take proactive measures (including bringing them home)." He assured that the ministry is already conducting monitoring efforts and collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to stay updated on developments.

The statement was made during a press conference following the launch of the Digital Innovation Creativepreneur 3.0 (DICE 3.0) Programme at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre. The event was also attended by the ministry's Secretary-General Datuk Dr Anesee Ibrahim and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Fadzli Adam.
