Mosques and Surau in Federal Territories Encouraged to Address Mental Health Concerns

Kuala Lumpur: Mosques and surau in the Federal Territories have been urged to collaborate with the government to address mental health issues among the population. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, emphasized the need for a holistic approach that includes physical, mental, social, and spiritual elements, aligning with the efforts to foster a MADANI society.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mohd Na'im highlighted that mental health issues, especially among women, are increasingly noticeable and impact the progress of developing a MADANI society. He pointed out that the foundation of a MADANI society begins at home, where women play crucial roles within the family, community, and the nation.

Dr Mohd Na'im shared these insights during a press conference following the launch of the 'Thy Me Time @ Mosque' programme at the Azzubair Ibnul Awwam Mosque in Cheras. The programme's objective is to transform mosques into support centers that enhance community well-being.

The initiative offers various activities such as casual chat sessions with psychiatrists, emotional counseling, Healing Circle activities including journal writing, breathing techniques, and group sharing, as well as Networking Support to build stronger bonds and provide spiritual and emotional support.
