Kuala lumpur: Mosques and surau under the administration of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) are set to hold Yasin recitations and solat hajat (special prayer of need) for the late Zara Qairina Mahathir tomorrow, after the Maghrib prayer.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jakim director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee issued a statement indicating that the session is being organized following instructions from Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar. The event aims to demonstrate love, solidarity, and compassion towards the bereaved family, with an invitation extended to all Muslims to participate.

Dr Sirajuddin expressed hope that the prayers would provide strength and solace to the family and serve as a continuous charitable deed for Zara Qairina. He also conveyed condolences to the family on behalf of Jakim.

On July 16, Zara Qairina, a 13-year-old Form One student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Tun Datu Mustapha Limauan in Papar, Sabah, was found unconscious in a drain near her hostel at 4 am, after allegedly falling from the third floor.
