MOT and JPJ Plan Integration of Motorcycle Sales App with mySIKAP

Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is set to engage in discussions with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to facilitate the integration of a mobile application for buying and selling used motorcycles with the mySIKAP system. This move aims to streamline transactions, making them simpler, faster, and safer.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Transport Minister Anthony Loke emphasized that the integration is intended to prevent issues related to the transfer of ownership and outstanding summonses. Although buyers currently have the ability to check summonses via the myJPJ app, there are limitations concerning data sharing for users.

Loke further explained that the integration would ensure enhanced security for users and allow them to assess the condition of motorcycles before completing transactions. He noted that while the registration system for motorcycles mirrors that of cars, involving a grant and name change upon transaction, the process for motorcycles still requires manual handling at JPJ offices. In contrast, car owners benefit from the EAUTO system that facilitates ownership transfers, which is not yet available for motorcycles.

The announcement came following the launch of the Rider Gate app at Lanai@MATIC, an event also attended by Ramssol Group Berhad chairman Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah. Loke described Rider Gate as a concept capable of addressing challenges faced in the used motorcycle market and reducing the burden for buyers.

Rider Gate represents an innovative solution aimed at transforming the used motorcycle market landscape in Malaysia. It leverages technology to tackle longstanding issues such as fraud risks, unclear ownership records, and mechanical defect concerns. The app offers a comprehensive approach to transactions, ensuring they are conducted transparently and without fraud risks, instilling confidence in buyers.
