Mother And Son Killed In Three-vehicle Collision On Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam

Simpang renggam: A woman and her son were killed, and three others injured, in a three-vehicle collision yesterday afternoon at KM65 of Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam near Simpang Renggam.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kluang police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh stated that the accident occurred around 5.30 pm and involved a Perodua Kancil car, a Mazda factory van, and a Toyota Hilux four-wheel-drive. Initial investigations revealed that a 51-year-old woman was driving her two sons, aged 15 and nine, from Simpang Renggam towards Kampung Bukit Kenangan in a Perodua Kancil. The vehicle had stopped to turn right into a junction when the accident happened.

The factory van, driven by a 53-year-old man traveling in the same direction, is believed to have lost control and crashed into the Kancil's rear, causing it to veer into the opposite lane. Subsequently, the Kancil was struck by an oncoming Toyota Hilux driven by a 62-year-old man, and the van also collided with the four-wheel-drive.

The woman and her 15-year-old son, who was in the front passenger seat, died at the scene due to severe injuries. The other son, seated in the back, sustained serious injuries to his head and leg. The van driver suffered injuries to his face, chest, and right leg, while the driver of the Toyota Hilux sustained only minor injuries.

All injured victims were transported to Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang for treatment. The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Operations commander, Senior Fire Officer II (PBK II) Shoromi Salih from the Renggam Fire and Rescue Station, reported that the deceased were identified as Rulijah Ahmad and Salam Norazli, and they were pronounced dead at the scene by a Ministry of Health medical officer.

The injured nine-year-old boy was identified as Osama Norazli, and the factory van driver was named B Chandran.
