Gerik: A motorcyclist was killed after a collision with a trailer at Kilometre 45 of the Gerik-Jeli East-West Highway (JRTB) yesterday morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Roziman Abu Aziz, 36, hailing from Baling, Kedah, was riding a Yamaha RXZ. He was reportedly en route to the RXZ 7.0 Rally in Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu, when the tragic accident occurred.

Gerik police chief Supt Abdul Samad Othman detailed the incident, stating it happened around 9 am. Roziman was traveling from Gerik towards Jeli and is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a bend. This resulted in him skidding into the opposite lane and crashing into the right bumper of a Volvo trailer.

Supt Abdul Samad Othman confirmed that Roziman sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Gerik Hospital. The driver of the trailer, a 44-year-old local man, was unharmed in the incident.

The accident is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
