MTCDP Empowers 348 Mid-Tier Companies Through Strategic Initiatives

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has successfully supported the growth and development of 348 mid-tier companies (MTCs) across various sectors through its flagship Mid-Tier Companies Development Programme (MTCDP). This initiative has been pivotal in enhancing the resilience and global competitiveness of Malaysian MTCs amidst increasing global challenges.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican highlighted the success of the MTCDP alumni in expanding into new export markets, adopting sustainable practices, embracing digitalisation, and strengthening their global branding. He emphasized the programme's critical role in boosting export growth and competitiveness, noting the unwavering commitment of Malaysian MTCs to enhancing their global presence.

At the MTCDP Graduation Wave 10 and Kick-Off Wave 11 ceremony, Reezal Merican reiterated MATRADE's commitment to collaborate with strategic partners to further strengthen the international presence of Malaysia's MTCs. A significant step in this direction is a recently signed memorandum of understanding with the Malaysian Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies (MCMTC), aimed at fostering broader and more sustainable business expansion through strategic collaborations.

The collaboration will focus on three key areas: business capacity building, expanding market access, and leadership in the Halal market. The MTCDP targets export-oriented MTCs with annual revenues ranging from RM50 million to RM500 million for manufacturing companies and RM20 million to RM500 million for service providers.

In the latest developments, 24 MTCs have successfully graduated from Wave 10, and 22 new MTCs have been onboarded into the Wave 11 cohort, signifying the ongoing commitment to nurturing and empowering mid-tier companies in Malaysia.
