Kuala lumpur: Muslims have been urged to exercise caution in their speech and avoid statements that could demean the dignity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), said Federal Territories Mufti Ahmad Fauwaz Fadzil. He emphasized that attributing any weakness or disorder to the Prophet contradicts the core principles of Islam.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Fauwaz stated that there should be no attribution of weakness to the Prophet. Even if such statements are intended as inspiration, they are deemed unacceptable. He elaborated with an example, highlighting that calling the Prophet poor is incorrect and harms the reputation of the great Messenger.
Ahmad Fauwaz made these remarks after participating as a panelist at the forum titled 'When Can We Bathe in the Klang River?' The event was organized by Persatuan Sahabat Sungai Malaysia and held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Residence. The forum was also attended by the society's president Prof Datuk Seri Ir Dr Zaini Ujang and Malaysian Institute of Architects Eastern Region chairman Datin Kaniza Shafie.
The Mufti's comments were in response to a Facebook post comparing environmental activist Greta Thunberg's autism to the personality of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which sparked significant debate online. He urged those responsible for the post to retract their statements and repent, noting that such comparisons stem from either unawareness or ignorance. From a fiqh perspective, he asserted that no one may attribute weaknesses to the Prophet.
