Kuala lumpur: Muslims must set the best example for society through good character, integrity, diligence, and by rejecting corruption and wrongdoing, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. He emphasized that the respect accorded to Muslims should stem from the positive values they demonstrate in daily life, including working diligently, keeping promises, and not abusing positions of trust.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar stated, "If people see us working hard, displaying good character, not cheating, and not stealing money, they will respect us. We must set a good example," during a Maulid Akbar ceremony held in conjunction with National Day at Masjid Tengah. The event was also attended by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan.

Anwar highlighted that Islam carries a message of compassion and goodness for all, and Muslims must safeguard relationships and the welfare of the entire community, regardless of race or religion. He further noted that Muslims should demonstrate balance in life by prioritizing knowledge, faith, morality, spiritual and physical development, as well as material progress.

The Prime Minister remarked that the development of Malaysia MADANI could not depend solely on policies, economic growth, or technological advancement without a strong foundation of faith, morality, and character. "While reaching for the sky, we must remain rooted in the earth. Being rooted in the earth means having faith, morality, and character, so that our values and moral principles are preserved," he added.

Anwar also stressed the importance of seeking knowledge from Islamic scholars and strengthening ties between religious scholars and leaders through constructive advice and views. He concluded by saying that Malaysia MADANI must continue to drive economic growth and master modern technology, while ensuring that values and morality remain the pillars of national development.
