Putrajaya:Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, currently on a two-day visit to Malaysia, was officially welcomed at the Perdana Putra Complex today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim greeted Min Aung Hlaing around 9 am, marking the occasion with the playing of the national anthems of both countries. The President then inspected a guard-of-honour presented by the First Battalion, Royal Ranger Regiment, led by Major Muhammad Nur Addeen Mustaza.
The ceremony saw the attendance of Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, along with other Cabinet members, foreign diplomats, and senior government officials.
After the welcoming ceremony, Min Aung Hlaing signed the guest book before engaging in a private meeting with Prime Minister Anwar. This was followed by a bilateral meeting with senior ministers and officials from both countries. Discussions are expected to cover significant topics such as the voluntary, dignified, and safe repatriation of Myanmar nationals in Malaysia who are there illegally, and reviewing efforts through ASEAN mechanisms.
