Kuala lumpur: MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCreative) has rolled out two innovative programmes under Dana Kebolehpasaran, the Inkubator Lestari Muzik (ILMU) and Muzik Mikro, aimed at financially supporting burgeoning talents and local artistes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative is part of the Dana Kandungan Kreatif (DKK) Industri Muzik 2026, utilizing a RM2.5 million allocation granted to MyCreative earlier this year to aid various segments of Malaysia's creative industry. Muhammad Nadzmi Musa, MyCreative Ventures' assistant vice-president for Industry Development, emphasized that ILMU was created to guide and elevate local artistes with significant talent who face hurdles in showcasing their work.
He explained that the programme targets new talents who do not rely on social media popularity and need financial backing for development. "Previously, we held many talent search competitions, and this time we are establishing this fund to explore those who are truly talented," he mentioned during an appearance on the Bernama Radio programme 'Fokus 30: Dana Kandungan Kreatif Industri Muzik'.
The Muzik Mikro programme, as Muhammad Nadzmi noted, was introduced to cater to local artistes who prefer producing singles and music videos over full albums. Reflecting on DKK's achievements since MyCreative took over its management in 2022, he highlighted that RM45 million has been allocated by the government and distributed to 259 fund recipients nationwide, creating 11,400 job opportunities.
"Our support is based on merit, regardless of whether someone is famous or not. We have no discrimination where we also support grassroots music and we look at the potential that exists, everyone is entitled to apply," he added.
Beyond DKK, MyCreative offers the Skim Dana Padanan (SDP) with a RM2.5 million allocation, open to 10 pillars of the creative industry such as performing arts, culinary arts, and visual arts. The Concerts and Events in Malaysia Incentive (CEMI) also aims to encourage local and international concert organization. Muhammad Nadzmi cited an example where last year's CEMI incentive recorded an economic spillover of RM39.48 million through just eight concerts, expressing hope that continued support will further boost the creative industry's contribution to Malaysia's GDP.
