MyEnergyStats Portal Launched to Enhance Access to National Energy Data

Kuala Lumpur: The MyEnergyStats portal, the country's newly developed open data gateway for the energy sector, has already shown significant potential in addressing both domestic and international demands, as stated by the Energy Commission (ST) chief executive officer, Datuk Abdul Razib Dawood. This portal aims to provide comprehensive access to national energy data.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the data available through the MyEnergyStats portal is instrumental in various key reports, including those related to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the preparation of the country's Biennial Transparency Report (BTR), aligning with the objectives set out in the Paris Agreement. The portal's data also contributes to the formulation of the National Energy Policy (DTN) and associated implementation plans like the Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap (MyRER) and the National Energy Transition Plan (NETR).

Further emphasizing its global relevance, the data is utilized by international organizations such as the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) in producing the APEC Energy Demand and Supply Outlook report, as well as by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) for the ASEAN Energy Outlook report. This was highlighted in a statement by Datuk Abdul Razib Dawood.

The launch of the MyEnergyStats portal was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. This new portal succeeds the Malaysia Energy Information Hub (MEIH), which had been in operation since 2012, and introduces advanced features such as infographics, data visualization, interactive maps, and a more systematic approach to data collection. Additionally, the portal is accessible via a mobile application available for iOS, Android, and Harmony OS users.

Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stressed the importance of the MyEnergyStats portal as a critical tool for providing accurate data and analysis, enabling more strategic energy policy formulation.
