MyIPO Unveils Trademark Fee Reduction Package for HKHM 2025

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), through its agency, the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), is introducing a Trademark Fee Reduction Package in celebration of National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 (HKHM 2025).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, the Minister, announced that the campaign, themed 'Protect Local Brands, Penetrate Global Markets', will run for four months from September 1 to December 31, 2025. The initiative will reduce the trademark fee by RM300, lowering the cost to RM650 from the original RM950 for each application. This applies to individuals and business entities, including associations and organizations. Approved applications will be protected under intellectual property laws for ten years.

The initiative aims to encourage intellectual property registration and enhance the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) along with local brands. Armizan highlighted SME Corp data, revealing that 96.1% of business entities in Malaysia are MSMEs, with over 70% being micro enterprises.

Armizan also mentioned that KPDN's strategic partners are offering special deals in conjunction with HKHM 2025. Starting August 31, Shopee has launched the 'Shopee Payung RM100 Campaign', running until September 16, where customers can purchase RM100 Shopee vouchers for just RM1. Shopee has allocated RM10 million for this campaign, benefiting 100,000 customers, and is offering free delivery services during the campaign period.

He emphasized that these initiatives, supported by KPDN agencies and e-commerce partners like Shopee, demonstrate a commitment to supporting the community and appreciating Malaysia's diverse population in building a harmonious and prosperous nation.

Meanwhile, Armizan also launched the Ezbiz On-The-Go 2.0 Bus, a mobile service providing easier access to Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) services. The new bus offers a contemporary design with advanced technology, featuring larger space, modern counter services, mobile self-service terminals, and comfortable briefing rooms.
