N. Sembilan Assembly Confirms Jufitri Joha and Wu Him Ven as New Senators

Seremban: The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly has approved the nominations of Dr. Jufitri Joha from PKR and Datuk Wu Him Ven from DAP to represent the state as Senators in the Dewan Negara. The motion, tabled by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, will see the new Senators replacing Senator Datuk A. Kesavadas Nair and Senator Datuk Dr. Ahmad Azam Hamzah, whose terms have recently concluded.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the nominations are intended to enhance Negeri Sembilan's representation at the federal level and align with the Unity Government's political strategy. Datuk Saiful Yazan from BN-Johol emphasized that the appointments aim to reflect the political cooperation within the state and represent its diverse population.

Transport Minister and Chennah assemblyman Anthony Loke endorsed the nominations, highlighting that Negeri Sembilan's political harmony serves as an example of coalition governance. He stated that this cooperation is beneficial for the state's residents and contributes to ongoing economic growth, urging the new Senators to prioritize state interests in the Dewan Negara.

Dr. Jufitri, aged 46, is the PKR Rembau division chief and former president of the Malaysian Youth Council. His work focuses on youth advocacy and supporting persons with disabilities. Datuk Wu, aged 61, is a member of the DAP Central Executive Committee, with significant involvement in community service, including youth democracy initiatives and flood relief coordination.

Additionally, the assembly adopted the National Forestry Act (Amendment) 2022 (Act A1667) to enhance the protection of Permanent Reserved Forests and strengthen forestry enforcement in Peninsular Malaysia. Aminuddin, also Sikamat assemblyman, stated that the amendment aims to clarify enforcement powers and address implementation ambiguities in forestry operations.
