Negeri sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a total of 46,384 notices for road traffic offences after inspecting 137,917 vehicles as part of a special operation called Ops Khas Pengarah from January to April 30 this year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, state JPJ director Jasyindar Singh Sihdu revealed that action was taken against 18,874 vehicles for various offences under the Road Transport Act 1987. During the operation, 40,501 motorcycles were inspected, with 5,273 being penalised for offences.
The operation recorded the highest number of violations in vehicle licensing offences, totaling 15,881. This was followed by technical offences, which accounted for 13,577 violations, and driver licensing offences, with 8,717 violations. In addition to the notices, a total of 479 vehicles were seized, which included 177 motorcycles, 146 cars, and 156 other vehicles.
Jasyindar Singh also mentioned that from last year until April this year, the department seized 188 luxury vehicles. Among these were 47 BMWs, 45 Mercedes-Benzes, 24 Toyota Alphard/Vellfires, and 10 Porsches. Individuals detained in connection with these offences included those with the title Datuk, entrepreneurs, and professionals, primarily for failing to pay road tax.
