Negeri Sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan government will tighten enforcement on illegal dumping sites, especially involving gas pipeline areas in the state. Local Government Development, Housing and Transport Action Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar stated this following an incident of open burning of illegal waste in a high-risk area in Bukit Sendayan that occurred two days ago.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, stricter enforcement action will be taken if irresponsible parties are detected conducting illegal open burning activities in the area. Arul Kumar urged anyone with information on illegal dumping and open dumping of waste to report it to the authorities immediately. He emphasized the danger posed by such activities, noting that garbage was burned within about 50 meters of a gas pipeline in the Sendayan incident.

The Nilai state assemblyman highlighted the importance of cooperation from all parties in reporting encroachment activities in pipeline areas. This cooperation is especially crucial for relevant parties like gas companies or local authorities to take further action. Arul Kumar has instructed SWCorp in Negeri Sembilan to clean up the affected area immediately and has advised against indiscriminate littering, warning that stricter actions will be enforced, particularly along the gas pipeline route.

Arul mentioned that the gas pipeline has been in place for decades, primarily involving residential and industrial areas in Seremban and Port Dickson. He has informed each local authority to conduct frequent patrols in residential and industrial areas under their supervision to detect any tampering with gas pipelines quickly and prevent undesirable incidents. Additionally, he has requested the gas company to fence the gas pipeline area to deter trespassers.
