Seremban: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has expressed disappointment that Pakatan Harapan's (PH) campaign highlighting the government's performance failed to translate into voter support in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election that concluded today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad said PH's campaign, which centred on the government's track record, failed to gain the expected traction as identity politics and racial narratives dominated the campaign period. Khalid expressed his personal disappointment, despite former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun's lack of dissatisfaction.

He noted that the dominant issue throughout the campaign was the narrative that Malays needed to unite against what was portrayed as a threat from the DAP, resulting in the government's achievements and the performance of PH candidates not being the main consideration for many voters. Khalid highlighted that despite presenting lengthy arguments about their performance, opposition parties like UMNO, Barisan Nasional (BN), and Perikatan Nasional (PN) responded with a simple focus on "DAP".

Khalid emphasized Amanah's commitment to continue working with PH to promote performance-based politics. He stated the importance of encouraging the public, particularly the Malay community, to evaluate political parties based on their track record and governing capability rather than racial sentiment. He described this as a continuous effort to educate the public towards greater political maturity.

Based on unofficial results, PH won 11 of the 36 seats it contested, while BN and PN secured 18 and seven seats respectively. Out of 859,760 registered voters, including 7,391 postal voters, the Election Commission (EC) recorded a voter turnout of 65.38 per cent, which equates to 562,133 voters.
