NADA Detains 196 Drug Addicts, Including Civil Servants During Terengganu Operation

Terengganu: A total of 196 drug addicts, including three women, were detained in an operation by the National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA) in Terengganu. NADA Enforcement and Security Division director Mahadzir Elias said the operation was conducted in the districts of Kuala Terengganu, Hulu Terengganu, Besut, and Dungun from Wednesday till today, adding that two civil servants were also detained.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mahadzir Elias shared that a location known as 'Port Pekat Bayu', which acted as a major transit point for the sale of drugs, was raided, and 35 individuals suspected to be high on drugs were detained there. He addressed the media alongside Terengganu NADA director Arzmi Abdullah, after leading the operation.

The addicts detained during the three-day operation were aged between 19 to 66. Among them, 159 tested positive for methamphetamine, 34 for ketum, two for cannabis, and one for heroin. An incident occurred during a raid on a house where a drug addict brandished a knife at five NADA personnel. The man surrendered 10 minutes later and was detained. No one was harmed in the incident, Mahadzir confirmed.
