Nusajaya: The National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) is pivotal in promoting awareness of safe internet usage among Malaysians, according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. NADI will support the Safe Internet Campaign (KIS), which is organized by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as part of the MADANI Government’s initiative to prioritize safe internet practices.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi emphasized the importance of these efforts in response to the rapid growth of technology usage and the increasing presence of online applications in Malaysia. He highlighted the government’s strengthened programmes aimed at engaging local communities through NADI centres and outreach initiatives.
Fahmi noted, “We have strengthened several programmes with the aim not just for the local community to come to these NADI centres, but also for the teams to go out. Our efforts include the Safe Internet Campaign, where we send managers to schools to raise understanding and awareness among students, teachers, and parents about the importance of ensuring children, in particular, stay safe online.”
He made these remarks during a press conference after a working visit to NADI in Taman Sri Skudai. State Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin and Skudai state assemblyman Marina Ibrahim were also present at the event.
Fahmi further mentioned that the expansion of the NADI network is on track, with 1,099 centres planned across the country and nine more under construction. Currently, Johor hosts 101 NADI centres, with about 10 percent of the total 2.2 million NADI members nationwide residing in the state.
