Kuala lumpur: Relations among the parties that constitute the Unity Government remain strong following the Pardons Board's decision regarding former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as UMNO president, emphasized that all parties involved in managing government affairs continue to act professionally, with collective decision-making being a hallmark of Cabinet operations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed that despite the political landscape, the professionalism in government management remains intact, ensuring the smooth functioning of the Unity Government. He reassured that personal relations among government members remain good and affirmed their commitment to upholding discipline within the Unity Government framework.

The decision in question involves His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granting a conditional pardon to former Prime Minister Najib, allowing him to serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, contingent upon paying a RM50 million fine. The Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department confirmed that the decision was made during the 64th Meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya at Istana Negara.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Barisan Nasional chairman, highlighted that the Pardons Board's decision, which received His Majesty's consent, adheres to the Federal Constitution's provisions. He asserted that any opposition to the King's decision contradicts constitutional provisions, emphasizing UMNO and BN's stance that the law must be respected, as reflected in his previous statements.
