Names of Three Candidates Submitted for Menteri Besar’s Post, Says Ahmad Zahid

Seremban: Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the coalition has submitted three candidates for the Menteri Besar position to the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. The submission was made during an audience at Istana Hinggap.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the UMNO President, emphasized the discretion given to Tuanku Muhriz to select one candidate from the submitted names for the Menteri Besar role. He stressed that it is Tuanku Muhriz's absolute right to make the choice, and any announcement regarding the decision will be made by the palace.

Ahmad Zahid, serving as the Deputy Prime Minister, refrained from disclosing the candidates' names. He remarked, "Alhamdulillah, congratulations to all BN candidates," and mentioned that the palace would soon release a statement. He further stated that with the consent of His Majesty, the BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition would form the new government for Negeri Sembilan with 25 seats.

The audience with Tuanku Muhriz took place at approximately 10 pm. Following the meeting, Ahmad Zahid shared in a Facebook post that he presented both the election results and the agreement between BN and PN during the session. He expressed gratitude for His Majesty's consent, pledging to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them in accordance with the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution and principles of stability and prosperity for all citizens.

Ahmad Zahid also reiterated BN's commitment to upholding the royal institution as a symbol of sovereignty and unity in the state and as a core element of the Constitutional Monarchy system. He concluded his statement with a prayer for continued grace, wisdom, and guidance for Tuanku Muhriz in governing Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus.
