Nanta: EKVE To Strengthen Klang Valley Road Network System

Nanta: The opening of Section One of the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) is considered significant in strengthening the road network system around the Klang Valley. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi highlighted the importance of the EKVE as part of the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road (KLORR) system in the east.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the EKVE is designed to serve as an alternative route, connecting key suburban areas such as Sungai Long, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Hulu Langat, and Ampang without the need to enter the often congested city centre. Nanta shared these remarks during the opening ceremony of EKVE Section One at the Ampang toll plaza. The ceremony was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar in attendance.

Nanta detailed that the 24-kilometre EKVE Section One includes four elevated interchanges located at Sungai Long, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Hulu Langat, and Ampang. This section includes 16.8 km of the main alignment and 8.4 km of slip roads. Section Two, expected to connect directly to Ukay Perdana, is actively underway. Upon completion, it will fulfill the 39-km EKVE alignment as per the original development plan.

Discussing the MyJalan application, Nanta revealed that since its launch by the Prime Minister in August 2023, it has received 40,938 complaints. Of these, 12,459 involved the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), boasting a resolution rate of 95.19 per cent. Meanwhile, 28,479 complaints fell under the 'No Wrong Door' policy, involving state, village, urban, and private roads.
