Natural Shrimp Aquaculture in South A’Sharqiyah Aims for 3,200 Tons Production in 2026

South a'sharqiyah: Natural Shrimp Aquaculture (NSA) Company, located in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan in South A'Sharqiyah Governorate, is set to achieve a production target of 3,200 tons of white shrimps by 2026. This initiative is part of the company's strategy to bolster the aquaculture sector and support the food security framework within the Sultanate of Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, Eng. Badr bin Nasser Al Rasbi, the Farm Manager at NSA, stated that the company's production volume reached approximately 1,000 tons by the end of the last week of June. He noted that this output aligns with NSA's annual production plan. The company has adhered to global standards in fish farming, earning the Best Agricultural Practices Certificate since 2024.

Additionally, Al Rasbi emphasized that NSA has been awarded the ISO 22000 certificate in food safety, thanks to its effective implementation of the food risks reduction system that boosts the credibility of its products in international markets. NSA plans to increase its production rate by about 175 percent in the coming years. This expansion is aimed at penetrating new European, Korean, and Chinese markets while also catering to local market demands.

Al Rasbi further highlighted NSA's commitment to developing value-added products to diversify supply in local and regional markets. Fish farming is recognized as a key sector in the South A'Sharqiyah Governorate due to its potential to offer extensive economic and investment opportunities. It plays a critical role in diversifying food sources and supporting fisheries-related industries, aligning with sustainable economic development goals in Oman.
