Neow To Hold Six-day Solo ‘Solidarity With DAK’ Run From Taiping To Parliament

Taiping: Solidarity With Dara, Amoi and Kelat (DAK) secretariat coordinator Neow Choo Seong will hold a Solidarity With DAK Run out of concern for the three Malaysian elephants in Tennoji Zoo in Japan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Neow will undertake a solo run of around 290 kilometres (km) across Perak, Selangor, and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur over six days, starting from June 17 in Ipoh and concluding at the Parliament Building on June 22.

The secretariat emphasized that the run is a demonstration of commitment and solidarity, demanding attention from the government and stakeholders for the welfare of these elephants. Neow, who is MCA Youth Information Chief, will begin the journey with a 61 km run from Taiping to Ipoh on June 17, followed by Ipoh-Kampar, 44 km (June 18), Kampar-Tapah, 45 km (June 19), Bidor-Tanjung Malim, 60 km (June 20), Tanjung Malim-Selayang, 60 km (June 21), and finally, Selayang-Parliament, 20 km (June 22). The run will culminate with the submission of a petition at the entrance on the first day of the Parliamentary sitting to Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, ensuring the issue is brought to the Dewan Rakyat.

Additionally, Neow plans to engage with local communities at each stop along the route to raise awareness about the plight of the elephants and garner support to ensure their continued well-being. He stated that the run transcends being merely a physical activity, serving as a means to advocate for the return of Dara, Amoi, and Kelat to Malaysia.

Neow highlighted the urgency of the matter, noting that the condition of Dara, Amoi, and Kelat has been deteriorating since their transfer to Japan on March 11, necessitating immediate debate in the Dewan Rakyat.
