Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) described the government's initiative to introduce a new promotion method for members of the security forces and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) as a significant recognition and morale booster for both services.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated that the move, highly anticipated by PDRM personnel, reflected the government's concern for those responsible for safeguarding public safety and order. He expressed his deepest appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for focusing on strengthening the career advancement of national security forces personnel.
PDRM believes that improvements to the career progression pathway will positively impact the motivation and professionalism of officers and personnel in carrying out their duties. The Prime Minister, addressing the Semarak Kenegaraan programme with MAF personnel at Terendak Camp, announced the government's agreement, in principle, to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and expedite the promotion process for MAF and PDRM personnel. This aligns the promotion system with the wider public service.
Anwar mentioned that details of the new mechanism are expected to be announced during the Ambang Merdeka celebration at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur on August 30. Meanwhile, Mohd Khalid stated that PDRM is awaiting details of the new mechanism and expressed the force's readiness to cooperate fully to ensure its smooth implementation.
He emphasized that the government's commitment would further motivate PDRM personnel to strengthen integrity, enhance professionalism, and continue providing quality policing services for the safety and well-being of the people and the country.
