Kuala lumpur: Police have recorded statements from nine individuals so far in relation to the tragic incident where a pupil fell into a sewage pit at a school in Lenggeng, Nilai, two days ago. Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said those who have been questioned include the complainant, teachers, and pupils from the school.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, four more statements will be recorded today from representatives of the Public Works Department (JKR), Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK), and the National Water Services Commission (SPAN). The investigation is ongoing under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 (Act 611), and the police have urged the public to refrain from speculation as it may hinder the investigation process. Unfortunately, there was no CCTV footage available at the scene of the incident.
Last Saturday, Year 3 pupil Abdul Fatah Khairol Rizal died after falling into a sewage pit at the school. The Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, stated that the ministry, along with the Negeri Sembilan Education Department, is fully responsible for conducting a thorough investigation into the tragedy. She assured that a complete investigation report would be submitted soon for further action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
