Nine Kelantan Districts Brace for Possible Floods Due to Overflowing Rivers

Kelantan: The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) today issued an early flood forecast for Kelantan between tomorrow and Friday due to the expected continuous rainfall causing rivers to overflow in several districts.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JPS has identified nine districts at risk, covering the main river basins in the state. The districts include Tumpat, Pasir Mas, and Kota Bharu, with potential impacts on the Sungai Golok Basin, Sungai Kelantan Basin, and others such as Sungai Pengkalan Nangka Basin and Sungai Pengkalan Chepa Basin.

In Pasir Puteh, the river basins anticipated to be affected are the Sungai Kelantan Basin and Sungai Semerak Basin. Similarly, Bachok may experience impacts on the Sungai Kemasin and Sungai Semerak basins, and Tanah Merah on the Sungai Golok and Sungai Kelantan basins.

The river basins expected to be hit in Machang and Kuala Krai are Sungai Kelantan, while in Jeli, it will involve the Sungai Golok Basin and Sungai Kelantan Basin. JPS stated it will constantly monitor the situation and issue flood warnings if there is significant rainfall in these areas.

JPS also advised the public to stay informed through official announcements and to take precautionary measures to face any potential flooding.
