No By-election Scheduled for Subang Parliamentary Seat: EC

Kuala lumpur: The Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) has announced that a by-election for the Subang parliamentary constituency will not be held following the resignation of its incumbent representative, Wong Chen, as the Member of Parliament. According to BERNAMA News Agency, EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun stated that the decision aligns with Article 54(1) of the Federal Constitution. This decision comes after Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr. Johari Abdul informed the EC that there is no requirement to fill the vacancy at this time. Ramlan Harun confirmed, "No by-election for the P.104 Subang Parliamentary Constituency will be held." This announcement was made in an official statement released tonight. The EC had received a notification from Speaker Johari via a letter dated August 11, regarding the status of the casual vacancy of the Subang parliamentary seat, which was declared vacant under Article 51 of the Federal Constitution. Earlier in the day, Johari confirmed during a special meeting of th e Dewan Rakyat that he had officially received Wong Chen's resignation notice the previous day.
