Kota kinabalu: The Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) has issued a public notice urging all political parties participating in the 17th Sabah State Election to refrain from installing campaign materials in areas that could compromise road safety.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the JKR's notice specified that the restriction applies to roundabouts, road median openings, junctions, pedestrian crossings, and traffic light poles. The department emphasized that campaign materials such as flags, banners, and posters at these locations could obstruct drivers' visibility, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.
The notice further highlighted the importance of this measure, stating, "This action is important to ensure road users' safety remains at an optimal level throughout the campaign period. Campaign materials already installed in these prohibited areas must be removed immediately to prevent any unwanted incidents." JKR also expressed its gratitude to all political entities for cooperating to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow across the state.
The Election Commission has scheduled November 29 as the polling day, with early voting set for November 25.
