No Increase In Electricity Bills For Most Households In Peninsular Malaysia – PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that there is no increase in electricity bills for the majority of domestic users in Peninsular Malaysia following the electricity tariff restructuring that came into effect this month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar stated that 85 percent of domestic users will actually see reductions in their electricity bills, with some experiencing a decrease of up to 14 percent for July this year compared to the first half of the year, based on the same level of usage.

He addressed rumors circulating about potential increases, stating, "It's nothing like the false claims being spread out there. The tariff may have changed, but due to lower fuel generation costs, electricity bills are lower."

Anwar urged citizens to wait until the end of the month to review their bills before raising any concerns. "If you want to complain, complain then," he remarked during a special announcement streamed live on national television and social media platforms.
