Bintulu: There will be no price increase for Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across Sarawak despite supply disruptions caused by the recent floods in Bintulu. Petros announced that the recent floods led to a landslide at the Pusaka Integrated Resources LPG Bottling Plant in Bintulu, necessitating a temporary halt to the plant's operations to ensure the safety of the surrounding community.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Petros has implemented its business continuity plan to maintain a steady LPG supply for Sarawak's northern region customers. This involves sourcing LPG from Kuching and Sepanggar Bay in Sabah to overcome the operational challenges. The floods impacted key operational and transportation routes, resulting in delivery delays to certain parts of Sarawak.
Petros is working closely with relevant authorities, logistics partners, and local distributors to expedite restocking and deliveries. The company expects the situation to be resolved safely and promptly. Petros has also assured customers that there is an adequate volume of LPG cylinders to meet the demand across Sarawak.
The company addressed misinformation circulating on social media regarding additional transportation costs being transferred to customers. Petros clarified that it is absorbing all transportation costs to prevent any price hikes. Customers are encouraged to report any unauthorized charges to Petros Niaga's Customer Service for immediate action.
Petros also urged the public to refrain from spreading false information and advised against panic buying, emphasizing the importance of purchasing only necessary quantities to ensure fair distribution for all.
