Kuala Lumpur: The prestigious 3rd World Islamic Tourism and Trade Awards (WITA 2025), organised by the Malaysian Tourism Agency Association (MATA), is now officially open for nominations. The awards aim to recognise and celebrate excellence in the fields of Islamic tourism and trade globally.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, WITA 2025 honours outstanding achievements and contributions in Islamic tourism and trade while fostering innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the global Islamic economy. The awards also seek to highlight the importance of Islamic tourism and trade as key drivers of economic growth and cross-cultural understanding.

WITA chairperson, Dr. Izyan Diana, expressed her enthusiasm for this year's awards, saying they have become a standard of excellence for the industry. 'The World Islamic Tourism and Trade Awards have become a benchmark of excellence, inspiring individuals and organisations to push the boundaries of innovation and service. We look forward to receiving nominations from trailblazers who are shaping the future of Islamic tourism and trade. This event is not only a celebration of achievements but also a platform to promote collaboration and shared growth,' she said in a statement.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Sunway Resort Hotel, Bandar Sunway on Aug 25, taking place alongside the World Islamic Tourism and Trade Expo (WITEX) and the World Cultural and Art Festival (WCAF), bringing together key players from the tourism, trade, and cultural sectors. The 2025 edition of WITA, held alongside WITEX and WCAF, is expected to be a convergence of culture, commerce, and creativity. These events form part of Malaysia's ongoing efforts to position itself as a global hub for Islamic tourism and trade, strengthening its role in the global halal economy.
