Northeast Monsoon: Perak JBPM Focuses On Over 300 Flood Hotspots

Meru raya: The Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) is ready to face the Northeast Monsoon season, focusing on 332 flood-prone areas statewide. Its director, Sayani Saidon, highlighted that Kuala Kangsar, Kerian, and Larut, Matang, and Selama districts recorded the highest number of hotspots.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sayani emphasized the department's preparedness, stating that logistics, equipment, and tools for flood operations have been ensured to be in proper condition. She urged the public to be ready for quick evacuation and to adhere to instructions from the authorities. She made these remarks while officiating the Perak JBPM-level Malaysia Clean-Up Day 2025 in Meru Raya.

Additionally, 32 locations prone to water surges have been pinpointed, including Sungai Kampung Ruah Batu 7, Sungai Lata Kinjang, and Sungai Lata Iskandar in Batang Padang district, along with Lubok Timah in Kinta district. High-risk landslide areas have also been identified, such as Jalan Simpang Pulai to Cameron Highlands, Jalan Pengkalan Hulu-Betong, the Sungai Enggor Bridge, and the Kinta district.

Sayani further mentioned that the department is prepared for seismic-related disasters such as earthquakes, particularly in cave temples, although no directive has been received so far.
