NS Health Dept Cracks Down on Unregistered Health and Cosmetic Products

Negeri sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan Health Department seized unregistered health and cosmetic products worth over RM80,000 in a raid here yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department's action involved eight premises targeted by the Pharmacy Enforcement Division following public complaints. The raid resulted in the confiscation of 200 types of suspected illegal products, which included scheduled poisons and unnotified cosmetics.

The health department revealed that these outlets were frequently visited by consumers, particularly non-citizens, and highlighted that the sale of these products breached national drug and cosmetic regulations. Individuals found guilty face fines of up to RM25,000 or imprisonment for up to three years. Companies could be fined up to RM50,000, while violations under the Poisons Act may result in up to five years' jail, a fine, or both.

The department urged the public to verify the registration of products on the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) website. They also encouraged reporting of dubious products through the Public Complaints Management System (SisPAA), via the hotline 03-7841 3200, or contacting any local Pharmacy Enforcement Division.
