Seremban: Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) are targeting a top-five finish in the Super League this season, seeking to improve on their seventh-place finish last season. NSFC chairman Datuk Ismail Lasim expressed that the goal was fueled by the renewed spirit and determination instilled by the management and coaching staff to enhance the team's performance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Ismail stated it was premature to fully evaluate the capabilities of the revamped Hobin Jang Hobin squad. Emphasizing the importance of consistent and competitive performances, he highlighted that the team must prioritize delivering solid performances in every match.
Addressing reporters after the Negeri Sembilan Football Day, Ismail underscored the necessity for strong financial backing within the association to retain talented players. He emphasized teamwork, urging the squad to operate as a cohesive unit and avoid internal conflicts to foster good cooperation.
The event also introduced the NSFC squad for the current season, featuring new Spanish head coach Daniel Gimenez Alcaniz. Among the foreign players joining the team are Park Yi-Young of South Korea, Japanese players Takumi Sasaki, Kei Oshiro, Yuichi Hirano, Mio Tsuneyasu, and Jovan Motika of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Menteri Besar expressed hope that Negeri Sembilan supporters would continue to attend matches and support the team throughout the season.
Ismail also addressed the challenges posed by the early Super League schedule, which includes some afternoon matches. He noted concerns regarding player fitness and team management, particularly as players compete in hotter conditions and during peak commuting times.
