Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Nuclear Agency (Nuklear Malaysia) continues to strengthen scientific writing and publishing skills among professionals and technical staff to ensure that research outcomes can be disseminated more widely and benefit society and the nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, its director-general, Dr. Muhammad Rawi Mohamed Zin, emphasized that scientific publications are crucial indicators in assessing the impact of research outcomes. These publications contribute to the advancement of knowledge, problem-solving, and add value to the country's development. Quality publications ensure that research results extend beyond the laboratory or institutional level, allowing them to be shared, understood, and utilized by various parties.
Dr. Muhammad Rawi highlighted the significance of high-impact publications as reflections of research outcomes and their role in solving problems, benefiting society, and contributing to national development. He made these remarks while officiating the 2026 Scientific Writing and Publishing Seminar and Workshop themed "High-Impact Publishing as the Core of Knowledge Development."
The seminar and workshop provided insights into the latest developments in scholarly publishing, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis, and open access publishing. These advancements offer opportunities to accelerate the writing process and expand knowledge dissemination, while also necessitating a solid understanding of academic integrity, data accuracy, plagiarism, AI usage ethics, and copyright.
The programme also emphasized collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, publishers, and industry players to integrate expertise in science, technology, language, and publishing. Dr. Muhammad Rawi noted the collaboration between Nuclear Malaysia and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) through the 'Nuklear Untuk Rakyat' segment in "Majalah Dewan Kosmik," alongside the publication of books and encyclopedias, and efforts to enrich scientific terminology in the Malay language.
He reiterated that strengthening the practice of scientific writing and publishing is a continuous commitment of Nuklear Malaysia in supporting the aspiration of 'Nuclear for the People' (N.U.R.) under the National Nuclear Technology Policy 2030. Nuklear Malaysia produces over 500 scientific publications annually, including international journals, conference proceedings, scientific books, technical reports, and popular articles in Malay and English.
The seminar and workshop were supported by DBP, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Institut Terjemahan and Buku Malaysia (ITBM), PTS Media Group, Persatuan Penerbit Buku Malaysia (MABOPA), and MajalahSains.com. The programme included workshop sessions to enhance participants' ability to produce high-quality, integrity-driven scientific works that meet current publication requirements.
