Nurse Duped of Over RM634,000 in Investment Scheme

Kuantan: A nurse lost more than RM634,000 after being duped by a non-existent investment scheme. Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman revealed that the 39-year-old woman fell prey to the scam following an interaction with an individual on WhatsApp.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the individual initially offered the victim job opportunities abroad, subsequently persuading her to invest in a scheme that promised a 10 percent return on the total capital invested. The victim was instructed to invest through a website provided by the suspect via a shared link. Over time, she transferred money in stages to 10 different bank accounts, totaling over RM634,400, which included her savings and bank loans, between May 24 and June 29.

Yahaya explained that the victim became suspicious when she did not receive any returns and lost access to the investment link. Realizing she had been scammed, she filed a police report at the Kuantan District Police Headquarters. The case is currently under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
