Kuala Lumpur: Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has never shied away from speaking the truth or standing up to those in power, said Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar. She expressed admiration for Rafizi, who has announced his resignation from the Cabinet effective June 14, highlighting his role in introducing transformative ideas and policies that have influenced national discussions, especially in governance, transparency, and economic justice.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nurul Izzah emphasized that Rafizi's ideas will endure, continuing to be refined and implemented because they embody what is best for Malaysia. She voiced confidence that Rafizi would continue to shape Malaysia's future meaningfully.
Nurul Izzah, having recently won the post of PKR Deputy President by defeating Rafizi in the party's polls, stated her current focus is on fortifying the party. She stressed the importance of monitoring the top leadership and committed to ensuring that essential work is carried out. She reiterated the party's duty to uphold and fight for the values and principles they have long championed.
As an initial step, Nurul Izzah mentioned efforts are underway to introduce mandatory training for all party leaders at various levels on laws related to money laundering, corruption, and tax compliance. She stressed that good governance must be founded on strong principles and sound knowledge to prevent money politics and misconduct, ensuring leaders understand their responsibilities and uphold integrity. She concluded with a call to action: "We must be the change we wish to see in others."
Earlier today, Rafizi, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Pandan, announced his resignation as Economy Minister effective June 17 and submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
